Initiative for Energy & the Environment
The LEC launched a new Initiative for Energy and the Environment in July 2013. The Initiative for Energy and the Environment will offer a variety of activities, taking full advantage of the LEC’s established programs for judges, AGs, congressional staff, professors, and the public policy community at large.
To lead this new Initiative, the LEC recruited Richard O. Faulk , a prominent trial, appellate and environmental lawyer from Houston, Texas. Mr. Faulk formerly served as Chair of the Litigation Department, Environmental Practice Leader, and head of the Climate Change Task Force for Texas-based Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP. Richard is now a resident of Arlington, Virginia and a partner at Hollingsworth LLP in Washington, DC.
The Initiative’s first event took place at the National Press Club on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, and featured a panel discussion:Supreme Court Preview: Energy and Environmental Issues in the 2013-2014 Term. Mr. Faulk appeared on Platts Energy Week prior to the Supreme Court Preview and was recently published on Forbes.com with an Op-Ed discussing the Supreme Court's decision regarding greenhouse gas.
The Initiative also organized a panel at the Eighth Annual Judicial Symposium on Civil Justice Issues on Hydraulic Fracturing and Federalism, in November of 2013.
For upcoming events related to our Initiative for Energy and the Environment, please see our program schedule, including the LEC Public Policy Conference on Energy and the Environment: Old, Fuels, New Technologies, and Market Dynamics.
