For over 35 years, the LEC has offered programs on economics to federal and state judges. In 2010, the LEC’s judicial education programs were merged with the Judicial Education Program created by the LEC’s new Executive Director, Henry Butler. That program has run since 1995 at the University of Kansas, The Brookings Institution and, most recently at Northwestern University School of Law. The flagship program of the George Mason JEP is a week-long Economics Institute for Judges. The JEP also offers Advanced Law & Economics Institutes on specific topics such as “Risk, Injury, and Liability,” “Antitrust Law and Economics,” and “Corporate Finance and Corporate Governance.” Other program offerings include an Annual Civil Justice Issues Symposium, Case Analysis Seminars, and the annual meeting of the American College of Business Court Judges.
The George Mason Judicial Education Program relies on the guidance of its Judicial Advisory Board. The director of the judicial education program is D. Bruce Johnsen. For questions about the JEP, please contact Pam Entsminger, Coordinator, Judicial Education Programs. She may be reached at 703.993.8008 or LEC@gmu.edu.
