“The Law & Economics of Crime & Punishment” program will provide a strong understanding of the economics of crime, punishment, and deterrence. Featuring A. Mitchell Polinsky, Josephine Scott Crocker Professor of Law and Economics and Director, John M. Olin Program in Law and Economics; Professor (by courtesy) of Economics; Senior Fellow (by courtesy), Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, topics will include the basic economics of crime, punishment, and deterrence; the tort-crime boundary; criminal sanctions; punitive damages; and criminalization of corporate activity.
NOTE: If you wish to attend both spring symposia, the LEC will reserve and pay for your Saturday night stay, in addition to the program nights. For those staying over, we will host an optional expedition on Sunday afternoon to the Virginia countryside, with a tour of a local winery.
